After being swept away by a [ts.una.mi], Owen, a younger hippopotamus, was [se.par.ated] from his mom. In his seek for companionship, he solid an surprising bond with a century-old turtle, whom he apparently mistook for one more hippopotamus.
In 2004, after the [de.va.stating] Indian Ocean [ts.una.mi], Owen was discovered alone on the Kenyan coast. Rescuers took him to Haller Park, a wildlife refuge, the place he met Mzee, a 130-year-old Aldabra tortoise.
How great is that & very particular🤗💕
Feeling helpless, Owen started following Mzee the turtle all over the place. Owen possible mistook her for a member of his personal species, looking for safety and luxury.
Over time, this distinctive friendship defied species boundaries and grew into an [unbre.akable] bond. 🐢🦛
Amazed by the ability of empathy in our fellow species who occupy this planet.
What superb issues animals do with one another. So glad that little hippo bonded with that tortoise and vice versa.
